How to Detach and Rearrange MUJI PP Stocker Storage Case/Drawers

If you’re familiar with MUJI products, you might have seen one of those simple and neat, yet iconic plastic containers and storage drawers or what commonly known as PP storage.

Polypropylene (PP) storage products from MUJI are very popular as they have wide variety of types and sizes that you can freely combine to suit your needs and living space. You can use them to organise almost everything, from sorting papers and files in the office to tidying up and storing kitchen utensils, bathroom products, laundry supplies, cleaning tools, etc. etc. They are very versatile and I’m sure you will find a good use of it.

One of my favourite selections from MUJI PP storage are their range of stocker drawer/storage rack. I like that they can neatly fit narrow spaces for maximum use of space. This MUJI stocker storage range also come in different height options that you can stack together to match your usage.

If you get one of their stocker storage cases (those with few drawers already stacked together), you might be wondering if it is possible to detach and rearrange them or perhaps add another drawers in between. According to the instructions manual for PP storage rack from MUJI, you can install additional drawers to the top or the bottom part, but not in the middle due to how the connections are built. Generally speaking, this is quite annoying as sometimes you need to trial and error to find the perfect storage solution that works.

But not to worry, there’s a simple fix for this.

How to detach MUJI PP Drawer Stocker so you can rearrange or add another drawers in between:

All you need is just a flat head screwdriver and you’re ready to go.

First, remove the drawers completely out of the racks by slightly pushing both sides in together while pulling.

Place your PP stocker racks horizontally for easy access.

Insert the flat head screwdriver in this small rectangular hole. This should be easy to find but if you’re having a problem finding the right hole, it is located near the circular hole.

Lift your screwdriver slightly to push the racks out of the connectors. THERE IS NO NEED TO FORCE or use excessive pressure. If you’re inserting the screwdriver in the right hole, they should come off pretty easily.

Repeat to all 4 sides. To make it easier, again, find the circular hole first, then insert the screwdriver in the rectangular hole besides it.

You’re done.

Now feel free to rearrange your MUJI PP stockers as you please.

Do note that this is not an official tutorial from MUJI, so proceed with caution at own risk.
